What is CDS?
Combined Defence Service (CDS) is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for the following recruitment:
- Indian Military Academy
- Officers Training Academy
- Indian Naval Academy
- Indian Air force Academy.
When CDS exams are conducted?
This exam is conducted twice a year, February and November, and UPSC releases the notification in the month of October and June.
What is the age limit and education criterion to appear in the exam?
To appear in the exam candidate must be in between the age of 19 to 25. The eligibility criterion also depends on the type of academy you want to join. If you want to join Officers training program, graduation in any subject from the recognised academy is required.
For the Naval academy you must possess bachelors of engineering degree. Only candidates who had physics and mathematics in 10+2 and holds bachelor’s of engineering degree from the recognised university can apply for the Air force academy.
If you pass the exam and interview which is held by the Service Selection Board (SSB), then you are admitted to the respective academies.
